65 Inmates, staffers of Sikkim Prison Test Positive For Covid-19

Sikkim: 60 Jail Inmates, Staffers Test Covid-19 Positive

At least 60 inmates and five officials of Namchi Jail in Sikkim tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday.

As per reports, they all have been put under quarantine in the jail premises.

This has spike the COVID-19 active caseload to 32,343 as on December 3 as 76 more people tested positive in the state.

The death toll remained unchanged at 403 as no fresh fatality was registered.

The South Sikkim district administration has taken various containment measures, and isolated all people with COVID-19 symptoms, health officials said.

East Sikkim registered the remaining 11 cases.

Sikkim now has 206 active cases, while 31,394 people have recovered from the infection, and 340 patients have migrated to other states so far.

The Himalayan state has tested 2,71,672 samples for COVID-19 to date.
